The Northern Palace is the best preserved building in the city. It is the “Summer Residence” of Akhenaton and Nefertiti. It’s relatively easy to see the low walls and stumps of columns that outline the vast palace
A large courtyard with a square in the center looks like a pool, and small chambers scattered throughout the ruins (which you cannot walk in, they are fenced in and we couldn’t get access) are probably bathrooms and storage rooms. The palace is separated into public and private parts. Fragments of mosaic line the floors here, and it is not too hard to imagine the tall, white-plastered walls and painted decorations.
