We spent nearly a whole day driving around in the Tweed Valley, avoiding sheep. The weather was beautiful, and we stopped to hike up the hill to see the Grey Mare’s Tail, a tall, narrow waterfall that plunges 200 feet down the valley.
Moffat is a very nice little town that is well known for it’s woollen mills — a tourist attraction that warrants a humungous parking lot for tour busses.
The view from this hill, overlooking the Eildon Hills and Trimontium is beautiful. One of the guidebooks had an engraving of the view from the 1800s, and it is virtually unchanged from the view today, even down to the plowed field.
It was incredibly windy when we stopped to take pictures at this tiny port (lost again, I think!) and we tried for about ten minutes to get a picture of the waves crashing over the stone walls
