Frenchman Tower

The French family built this tower house as tenants of the Bruces in the early 13th century. The current tower dates from the 16th century. In the early 17th century, a small turret on the west side was added by Robert French to contain a wide stair, since the first tower had tiny staircases. It is very ruined, and we didn’t get any closer than taking pictures from the road. Mark wasn’t up to climbing over fences and walking through pastures, but he did stop for a quick photo.
