Tomb of Mekhu

Mekhu was the chief overseer in Upper Egypt in the 6th Dynasty. He was killed while away from Aswan and his son Sabni (who also has a tomb here) mounted a huge expidition to return him to his home for burial

There are two chambers in the tomb, decorating with farming scenes. THere are 18 tapering columns in the main hall, which is cut out of the solid rock. On one wall, a series of false doors are inscribed with Mekhu’s name.
